Belarus, Guinea-Bissau strengthen agricultural cooperation

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov and Secretary of State for International Cooperation of Guinea-Bissau Fatumata Jau signed a memorandum of cooperation on 7 May. The document marks an important step toward strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

Guinea-Bissau’s economy is primarily based on agriculture and fishing. The country ranks among the world's top five cashew producers. In 2024, trade between Belarus and Guinea-Bissau was represented by Belarusian exports of malt.

According to the ministry, the signing of the memorandum opens new opportunities for expanding cooperation in agriculture between the two countries. Belarus is prepared to establish supplies of a wide range of agricultural products. Belarus also offers Guinea-Bissau to cooperate in the agricultural education.

"This document marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of bilateral relations aimed at strengthening economic, scientific and educational cooperation between Belarus and Guinea-Bissau," the ministry stated.
