Belarus’ grain harvest past 3m tonnes

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – According to the latest data available on 4 August, as much as 3.106 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been harvested from Belarusian fields, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Contribution of each region to the total harvest varies. Vitebsk Oblast contributed 215,000 tonnes; Mogilev Oblast - 332,000 tonnes; Gomel Oblast - 380,000 tonnes; Minsk Oblast - 602,000 tonnes; Grodno Oblast - 687,000 tonnes; Brest Oblast - 890,000 tonnes.

Cereals and leguminous crops excluding maize, buckwheat, and millet have been harvested from 30% of the area under these crops or from 603,000 hectares.

Winter barley has been harvested from 97% of the area planted to the crop. As much as 943,000 tonnes has been harvested, with the yield at 39.6 centners per hectare, which was 7.3 centners per hectare higher than last year.

Flax has been pulled from 20,000 hectares or 42% of the target area. As part of the second cutting grass has been harvested from 840,000 hectares or 78% of the target area. As much as 295,000 tonnes of hay (41% of the target) has been made in addition to 11.098 million tonnes of haylage (80% of the target), including 301,000 tonnes in polymeric packaging. 

As much as 3.362 million tonnes of grass fodder has been harvested (33% of the target).
