Belarus’ grain harvest past 2m tonnes

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – According to the latest data available on 2 August, as much as 2.047 million tonnes of grain has been harvested from Belarusian fields, the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

“The average yield is above last year’s by 8.4 centners per hectare,” the press service said.

Distribution of every oblast to the country’s total varies: 108,000 tonnes from Vitebsk Oblast, 191,000 tonnes from Mogilev Oblast, 244,000 tonnes from Gomel Oblast, 427,000 tonnes from Minsk Oblast, 476,000 tonnes from Grodno Oblast, and 601,000 tonnes from Brest Oblast.

Cereals and leguminous crops excluding maize, buckwheat, and millet have been harvested from 24% of the area under these crops or from 483,000 hectares.

Winter barley has been harvested from 95% of the area under the crop. As much as 926,000 tonnes has been harvested, with the yield above last year’s at 7.5 centners per hectare. Winter rapeseed has been harvested from 201,000 hectares (53% of the total area) to produce 444,000 tonnes of grain.

Flax has been pulled from 18,000 hectares or 37% of the target area.

As part of the second cutting grass has been harvested from 820,000 hectares or 77% of the target area. As much as 290,000 tonnes of hay (40% of the target) has been made in addition to 10.954 million tonnes of haylage (78% of the target), including 308,000 tonnes in polymeric packaging. As much as 3.317 million tonnes of grass fodder has been harvested (33% of the target).
