MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Finance Ministry will submit proposals on preparing insurance companies to operate in the EAEU common financial market to the Belarusian head of state, Belarus Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told journalists, BelTA has learned.
Development prospects for Belarusian Republican Unitary Insurance Company (Belgosstrakh) were on the agenda of the meeting between the Belarusian president and the finance minister. They discussed how the company will be able to operate in the EAEU common market and which transformations, including in its structure, are needed for this. “The Finance Ministry will submit the appropriate proposals to the head of state. Out goal is to prepare Belgosstrakh and other insurance companies for work in the EAEU common market in two weeks,” Maksim Yermolovich said.
He noted that the president asked to report about the situation in the insurance market and its development prospects. Belarus already introduced changes into the operation of the insurance market and adopted the new version of the relevant decree. “The dynamics of the insurance market is rather high. Insurance payments annually grow by 14%, which helps increase the range of insurance services in the market, launch new products, and set up new organizations,” the minister noted.
BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko asked to inform him about the changes on the insurance market as he met with Maksim Yermolovich. “Don't forget to inform me about Belgosstrakh, other insurance organizations. You submit proposals on certain transformations, turning it into an open joint-stock company. I asked you what was the problem and if you could work. You said you could. So you say you can work like you did before, without changing anything. And then you suddenly suggest setting up an open joint-stock company on this basis. Why? I want you to explain your work in the insurance segment,” the president said
