MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) - Young specialists from Belarus’ energy sector have won the International Engineering Championship CASE-IN, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

This season, a total of 211 teams from CIS and BRICS countries participated in the championship, including school and university students and young professionals from major companies. They presented startups in key industries, including the fuel and energy sector, metallurgy, biotechnology and project engineering.

The final competition was held in Moscow, where after intense competition the team from Gomelenergo secured first place. They successfully showcased their project in three key categories: advancement of nuclear energy with closed fuel cycle implementation and fusion energy utilization; digital transformation of CIS energy space, focusing on blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies; development of hydrogen infrastructure using electrolyzers to extend pipeline lifespan.

Young engineers from Brestenergo earned an honorable second place. They presented a startup featuring two major technologies: Power-to-Gas (P2G), which converts excess electricity into hydrogen for storage, transportation, and industrial use; high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, allowing electricity transmission over long distances with minimal losses. Their project integrates a digital platform utilizing AI, blockchain, and drones for monitoring, improving reliability and paving the way for a unified CIS energy market.

Both solutions aim to reduce carbon emissions, enhance digitalization, and strengthen energy independence across CIS countries.

"Belarusian young engineers consistently rank among the top at the CASE-IN international competition, demonstrating high competence and excellent training," the ministry emphasized.
