Belarus’ commodity exchange welcomes 300th Chinese company

MINSK, 25 July (BelTA) - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) has accredited the 300th company from China, BUCE’s press service told BelTA.

Engitech Ltd., a trading company based in Hong Kong, became the 300th resident of the People’s Republic of China accredited on BUCE. The new participant plans to supply industrial goods to Belarus.

According to BUCE, this year may set a record number of Chinese companies joining the exchange. In January-July 2025, the number of Chinese companies on the exchange platform grew by 53 new entities. Previously, the highest annual figure was recorded in 2024, with 90 companies joining. Thanks to active engagement with Chinese businesses and the opening of BUCE’s representative office in Shanghai, China has risen to sixth place among 82 foreign countries represented on the exchange.

“Systematic and focused efforts to develop the Chinese market began in 2020. That year, the exchange hired specialists fluent in Chinese and launched a Chinese-language version of the website. Since then, the number of accredited companies from China has grown from 7 to 300, including four brokers. The total value of exchange transactions has increased from $3.5 million to $133 million. The range of goods traded by Chinese residents on the exchange has also expanded. In 2020, transactions were limited to Belarusian timber, but now deals are made across nearly all major commodity categories: timber, metal products, agricultural goods, industrial and consumer goods. Both the export of Belarusian products to China and the import of Chinese goods in demand in Belarus are gaining momentum. So far, the trade balance has been in our favor,” the press service reported.

In January-June 2025, the trade of Chinese companies on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange reached $73 million, with over 80% of that amount spent on purchasing Belarusian products.
