MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - Thirteen cooperation agreements and commercial contracts to supply meat and dairy products, confectionery worth a total of about $31 million were signed at the Belarus-Chongqing business forum in China on 24 May, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Consulate General in Chongqing.
At the business meeting, the parties mapped out mutual projects for investment cooperation in the production of automotive components, medical equipment and robotics.
The day before, a Belarusian delegation headed by Governor of Minsk Oblast Aleksandr Turchin took part in the Sixth Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade where Belarus was the guest of honor. The Belarusian delegation included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People's Republic of China Aleksandr Chervyakov, Vice Governor of Minsk Oblast Denis Kurlenko, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Chongqing Dmitry Emelyanov, Director of the Tourism Department at the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry Irina Voronovich, and the heads of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone and other institutions.
On the sidelines of the event, representatives of the Belarusian delegation took part in the Forum of Economic Cooperation of Sister Cities that brought together representatives of about 48 cities from 31 countries twinned with Chongqing. They discussed, among other things, investment opportunities and new points of contact for expanding economic and technological inter-regional cooperation. During the Forum of Twin Regions, agreements were signed on cooperation between the regions of Belarus and China in the field of media, a communiqué on deepening cooperation between the twin regions of Chongqing and a communiqué on biodiversity conservation.
The Belarusian delegation met with Yuan Jiajun, member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Chongqing Governor Hu Henghua.
The Belarusian delegation took part in the opening ceremony of the Chongqing International Friendship Cities Food Court and the exhibition of achievements of cooperation between the sister cities and Chongqing. Belarus was represented by five enterprises.
Belarus’ National Pavilion was officially opened on 23 May within the framework of Sixth Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade.
Belarusian enterprises producing meat and dairy, bakery, confectionery, alcoholic beverages, cosmetics and other products were invited to participate in the fair. The pavilion also highlighted the multifaceted tourism potential and modern educational opportunities of the Republic of Belarus. The China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone took the center stage in the pavilion.
