Belarus, Azerbaijan outlined avenues of cooperation

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko outlined promising areas of cooperation between the states at the plenary session of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani Business Forum. These include industrial cooperation, the construction of a multi-brand maintenance center in Azerbaijan, practical training of Azerbaijani specialists in Belarus, including in blue-collar professions and others, BelTA has learned.

"In this hall we have more than 40 Azerbaijani companies interested in both promoting their products to the Belarusian market and also purchasing various Belarusian goods. We talked about this within the framework of the meeting of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic cooperation. These issues were discussed in detail during the meeting of the prime ministers. We have identified specific projects and approaches to boost trade," Igor Petrishenko noted.
From the Belarusian side, the forum is attended by more than 100 enterprises and organizations working in all sectors of the economy: agriculture, food, machine building, metallurgy, woodworking, construction and production of building materials, chemical, pharmaceutical and light industries and also wholesale and retail.

"Geopolitical realities are rapidly changing the trends in the global commodity markets and are constantly opening up new opportunities for us in various areas. The recent meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Azerbaijan in Baku reaffirmed the countries’ commitment to the strategic partnership. The constructive and fruitful talks between the heads of state and heads of government bodies of the two countries resulted in a number of new joint projects. The presidents of Belarus and Azerbaijan have set us challenging but achievable tasks,” Igor Petrishenko emphasized. “We must seriously expand production cooperation. Along with tractors, we will assemble utility, fire and other vehicles and elevators in Azerbaijan. We will build a multi-brand maintenance center to service Belarusian machinery. We will also assist Azerbaijan in organizing practical training and internship in Belarus for Azerbaijani specialists, including in blue-collar professions. Yesterday we discussed this topic in detail and determined the algorithm of further actions.”

Minsk has become a meeting place for business of Belarus and Azerbaijan. During the official visit of Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov of Azerbaijan to Belarus and the meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic cooperation, business representatives have gathered for the Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum and B2B negotiations. The forum addresses the issues of interaction and presents successful partnership stories. The plenary part will be followed by B2B negotiations, where representatives of Belarusian companies will be able to establish contacts with the heads of 43 Azerbaijani companies interested in cooperation in agriculture, industry, construction, furniture production, light industry, and pharmaceuticals. More than 150 representatives of Belarusian business have confirmed their participation in the event, which testifies to the high interest in economic relations with Azerbaijan.
