Lukashenko doubts usefulness of international organizations controlled by West

MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – One starts wondering whether the international organizations controlled by the West are really useful today. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his speech at a session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 24 April, BelTA has learned.

“Considering the military play at the Belarusian border, let’s honestly answer one question: do the supranational structures, which are controlled by the West and have grown all over the world like mushrooms, produce any real benefits today?” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the OSCE, the United Nations Organization, and other organizations had failed to prevent a single bloody conflict. “It is not their key task. The European Peace Facility allocates funds for the war in Ukraine. Think about it: money is in short supply while a peace foundation sponsors the killing of people. Once our peace foundation, its leaders went to Ukraine in order to help kids, the organization was immediately kicked out from the cohort, from its group. Fine. We can handle it,” he said.

“What real results have been achieved during major international forums? Such as the Munich Security Conference, the G20 summit, the World Economic Forum in Davos, the UN Climate Conference. It may seem that it might be interesting to invite people with different points of view as they boasted about at the Munich conference. Invite Russians and Belarusians. Putin and I will come and will say what we want, how we want to ‘fight’ against Europe. No. They don’t need this opinion,” the head of state noted.
