The sides discussed matters concerning the protection of rights and legal interests of citizens of Belarus and Russia, including in third countries. The enforcement of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases of 22 January 1993 was also mentioned.
The parties discussed the current matters and key areas of the cooperation between Belarus and the Vatican, including in the context of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and the Holy See marked in 2017.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko met with State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin in Moscow on 23 May to discuss the preparations for the joint Belarusian-Russian events.
The Belarusian diplomat presented a vision of the place and role of middle-income countries in achieving global sustainable development and drew attention to the specific problems they face in financing development.
The participants of the event will consider priority areas of the youth policy in the Union State, issues related to the state social support for young people, the youth rights to work and the work with socially vulnerable categories of people and also discuss the role of public associations in the work with the rising generation.
During the meeting with young diplomats and foreign service veterans of Belarus and Russia Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei stressed the need to preserve and develop the close bilateral ties between the two countries in various fields.
“The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in late June. The forum is held under the patronage of our presidents. The Supreme State Council of the Union State will hold its meeting on 30 June,” said Vladimir Makei.
“These efforts should be channeled into getting everyone to work to decentralize the authority, into enabling local democracy, and addressing various tasks involving services for people. All of that provides a positive influence on the wellbeing of our citizens,” believes Markku Markkula.
