Negotiations in progress to rescind Ukrainian special import duty on Belarusian goods

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – The fourth session of the Belarusian-Ukrainian high-level working group on mutual trade took place in Kiev on 2 September, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

During the session representatives of Belarus and Ukraine discussed a large number of matters. Among other things the sides discussed the annulment of a special Ukrainian import duty on a number of Belarusian products. The sides also talked over terms of mutual access for agricultural and food products, prospects of supplying Belarusian petrochemical products to Ukraine, cooperation in the production sector and manufacturing cooperation schemes in addition to a number of other pressing issues.

The Belarusian delegation was led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yevdochenko. The delegation also included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the petrochemical concern Belneftekhim, the Agriculture and Food Ministry, other ministries and government agencies.

The Ukrainian side was led by Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister, Ukraine's trade representative Natalya Mikolskaya.

A protocol was signed as a result of the session. The document stipulates how Belarus and Ukraine will act in the near future.
