MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Aliaksandra Sasnovich (world No.104) has failed to reach the main draw of the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi, which has a prize fund of $1.2 million, BelTA has learned.
In the second qualifying round, the Belarusian lost in straight sets to Britain’s Sonay Kartal (world No. 66) after an hour and a half of play with a score of 2-6, 4-6.
At the start of qualifying, Aliaksandra Sasnovich had battled for three hours to defeat Australia’s Priscilla Hon (world No. 121) in a three-set match: 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3.
The tournament in the UAE capital will conclude on 7 February.
