MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 4 Aryna Sabalenka lost to Italy's Camila Giorgi (World No.75) 5-7, 6-0, 4-6 in the Eastbourne International quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted for two hours and 20 minutes. The Italian will next face Estonia's world number 27 Anett Kontaveit for a spot in the final.
Aryna Sabalenka eased past world number 71 Bernarda Pera of the United States 6-3, 6-4 in the opener and saw off world number 31 Alison Riske of the United States 6-1, 6-4 in round two.
Belarus' world number 14 Victoria Azarenka withdrew from the Bad Homburg Open quarterfinal due to health issues. In the round of Last 32 the former world number one defeated fellow Belarusian Yuliya Hatouka, ranked 271, 7-5, 6-0. In the second round the Belarusian overcame France's world number 56 Alize Cornet, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9-7).
