Russia claim first gold at Best Athletes Cup in Swimming

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Minsk has crowned its first champions and medalists at the short course swimming event at the Best Athletes Cup in Swimming, BelTA has learned.

The first set of medals at the tournament was contested in the mixed 4x50m medley relay. Reigning world short course champions in the discipline, Russia’s Pavel Samusenko, Kirill Prigoda, Arina Surkova, and Daria Klepikova, powered to victory. Silver went to the Minsk team of Hryhory Pekarski, Ilya Shymanovich, Anastasiya Kuliashova, and Maryna Vasilevich.

The Best Athletes Cup in Swimming has brought together approximately 500 athletes from Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, South Africa, China, Russia, and Kazakhstan in Minsk. The participants include World and European champions, and Olympic finalists. The competitions will continue until 23 November, with a total of 46 medal events in the program.
