Olympics 2024: Belarus’ Shymanovich fails to make it to 100m breaststroke final

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmer Ilya Shymanovich has finished his performances at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, BelTA has learned.

Athletes took their first plunge into the pool in Paris on Saturday, 27 July. Semifinal heats in two events were also held on Saturday. 

Belarusian Ilya Shymanovich competed in the men's 100mbreaststroke. He got into the top 16 with the third result in the morning heat and finished sixth in the second semifinal with a time of 59.45. Shymanovich placed 10th in the overall standings and did not make it to the final. Three years ago at the Games in Tokyo, he reached the final where he finished eighth.


Alina Zmushka of Belarus will join competition in the women’s 100m breaststroke on Sunday. Anastasiya Shkurdai will begin her medal quest on 29 July.
