Malevanaya: Elite sport goes beyond mere physical training

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - Sports psychologists play an important role in athletes' careers, Irina Malevanaya, the head of the National Research and Treatment Center for Sports, said at the opening of the 3rd international scientific and practical conference "Applied sports science: Traditions, realities, prospects”, BelTA has learned.

The conference in Minsk brought together sports medicine experts from 11 countries. The seminar “Train Smart! A Course on Sports Literacy” featured the presentations by the National Research and Treatment Center for Sports, the Association of Sports Psychologists, and renowned Belarusian athletes.

“This year, the seminar focuses on sports psychology. After all, elite sport goes beyond mere physical training. It is also about a constant competition with oneself. This is why science reaches out to athletes, and athletes turn to science. Together, we strive to address various pressing issues that will assist them in preparing for major competitions," Irina Malevanaya said. “Every year, the conference brings together around 300 participants, and each time we receive positive feedback from coaches, athletes, and doctors. We are always open for consultations.”

Additionally, as part of the event, the National Research and Treatment Center for Sports, in collaboration with domestic and international manufacturers, put together an exhibition. During the exhibition, mobile applications for testing psychological state and creating dietary plans were presented.
