IOC session in March to be held online

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - The 137th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will take place online on 10-12 March 2021. This decision was taken by the International Olympic Committee Executive Board on 27 January, BelTA learned from the Belarusian National Olympic Committee.

The session agenda will include, among other topics, the presidential election, in which IOC President Thomas Bach will stand unopposed for the IOC Presidency.

In July 2020 Thomas Bach decided to run for a new term. He announced his decision in the summer 2020 during the 136th session of the organization, which for the first time in the history of the IOC was held as a video conference. The decision to hold the session via videoconference was made due to the difficult epidemiological situation.

The reports on the preparation for the winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022 and the summer Olympics in Paris in 2024 were also presented to the IOC Executive Board.
