MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk have suffered a defeat in the second match of their home series in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season, BelTA has learned.
On 26 January, Dmitri Kvartalnov’s team hosted HC Salavat Yulaev Ufa. The first period ended goalless, with the home side failing to capitalize on three power plays. Early in the second period, the visitors from Ufa found the net behind Vasily Demchenko, but the goal was called back due to goalie interference. Nevertheless, just a couple of minutes later, the opponents scored a legitimate goal to take the lead.
The Minsk squad equalized midway through the game, with Daniil Lipsky netting an accurate shot. The visitors also challenged the validity of the goal, but the referees found no violation in Andrei Stas’ actions in the crease. Regulation time ended in a draw, but in overtime, the Minsk Bisons made a mistake in the offensive zone and conceded a goal from a counterattack by the visitors, resulting in a 1-2 defeat.
Thus, in the home series, the Minsk team has earned three out of a possible four points and has caught up with HC Severstal Cherepovets in second place in the Western Conference standings. The Minsk club will embark on a two-game road trip: on 29 January, the Minsk Bisons will face HC Sibir in Novosibirsk, and on 31 January, they will meet the top team of the Eastern Conference and the entire league, HC Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
