Belarus to compete in 2025 Karate World Championships Qualification Tournament

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes will compete in the 2025 Karate World Championships Qualification Tournament which kicks off in Paris, France on 17 October, BelTA has learned.

A total of 550 athletes from 105 countries will be competing for slots at the global forum in Egypt. To qualify for the Karate World Championships, athletes must finish among the top six in their respective weight categories.

On the first day of competition, 17 October, the following Belarusians will take to the tatami: Maksim Bareika (kata), Viktoryia Rudzenchanka (kata), Ulyana Markava (under 50 kg), and David Nhuyen (under 75 kg).

Competing for the Paris qualifiers on Saturday will be Maryia Malakhava (over 68 kg), Maksim Kashyrski (under 60 kg), and Oleg Melyokhin (under 67 kg). The tournament will conclude on 19 October, with matches for Volha Ramaniuk (under 68 kg), Hleb Sachkouski (under 84 kg), and Ivan Kudzinau (over 84 kg).

In the current season, Belarusian athletes have repeatedly earned podium finishes at major international events. Maryia Malakhava won gold at the 3rd CIS Games in Azerbaijan, Ivan Kudzinau took first place at the Series A tournament in Cyprus, and Ulyana Markava clinched third place at the Youth League event in Croatia. The 2025 Karate World Championships will be held in Cairo in late November.
