Belarus to compete in 2025 European Rowing Coastal & Beach Sprint Championships

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - Eight Belarusian athletes will take part in the 2025 European Rowing Coastal & Beach Sprint Championships in Antalya, Türkiye, BelTA has learned.

The continental forum's program consists of endurance races and beach sprints. The Belarusians will compete in the latter discipline, with events scheduled for 11-12 October. The Belarusian team includes Yauheni Litkouski and Yana Kazak (both solo), Krystsina Motuz and Ivan Brynza (mixed double sculls), Aliaksei Ivashkavets and Daminika Butkevich (both U19 solo), Viktoryia Halaskok and Yaraslau Petrashkevich (U19 mixed double sculls).

Coastal rowing is a sport where participants compete along a sea or ocean shoreline. In the beach sprint format, athletes begin and end each round with short runs on land, with a 500-meter boat race in between. This format differs from classic flatwater rowing due to the presence of waves, for which different types of boats are used. This discipline is set to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
