Belarus’ NOC president congratulates Svirydzenka on Paralympic silver

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko congratulated skier Raman Svirydzenka on winning silver at the XIV Winter Paralympic Games in Italy, BelTA learned from the NOC press service.

In the 10km interval start classic race in the LW2-LW9 categories (standing athletes with limb impairments), Raman Svirydzenka placed second out of 25 participants. The day before, Raman won gold in the classic sprint.

“You have once again managed to demonstrate to the whole world the highest level of skill, fortitude, and will to win. This second Paralympic medal in our team’s collection glorifies Belarus and serves as proof of the strong traditions of parasport in our country,” the head of the NOC of Belarus emphasized.

In total, the XIV Paralympic Winter Games have brought together more than 600 athletes from 55 countries in Italy. Representing Belarus are also skiers Lidziya Loban, Valiantsina Biryla, Darya Fedzkovich.
