MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko congratulated Aryna Sabalenka on her confident victory at the tournament in Brisbane, Australia, BelTA learned from the NOC press service.
In the final of the season’s first tournament, world number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. The Belarusian player did not lose a single set throughout the entire tournament. Last year, Aryna also clinched the title in Brisbane.
“This court has yielded to you for the second year in a row, thanks to your utmost focus and determination, refined skill, and powerful drive. With your superb performance and excellent condition at the season’s outset, you have reaffirmed your standing as the top player and brought great joy to the Belarusian people, who support you and take pride in your accomplishments,” the message of greetings reads.
