MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - A Belarusian team took part in the mixed cross-country relay at the XIV Winter Paralympic Games in Italy, BelTA has learned.
The 4x2.5 km race featured teams from ten countries. The Belarus quartet, consisting of Lidziya Loban, Valiantsina Biryla, Raman Svirydzenka, and Darya Fedzkovich posted a time of 28.31:8 finishing in ninth, ahead of the quartet from Sweden. The U.S. team won the mixed relay while Ukraine and China took silver and bronze, respectively. Six participating teams had two men's legs each, while three teams had three.
With one day remaining until the conclusion of the Winter Paralympic Games in Italy, Team Belarus has two medals to its name, both earned by Raman Svirydzenka (gold in the sprint and silver in the individual classic race). On 15 March, the skiers will compete in the 20 km freestyle individual races. Loban and Biryla (LW10 - LW12) will start their race at 11.00 Minsk time, while Svirydzenka and Fedzkovich (LW2 - LW9) will begin at 12.30.
