Zimbabwe interested in Belarus’ anti-corruption expertise

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – Zimbabwe is interested in Belarus’ anti-corruption expertise, Chairman of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Michael Reza said following the official visit of the ZACC delegation to Belarus, the Prosecutor General’s Office told BelTA.

According to Michael Reza, corruption has no place in trade and industry. Joint efforts are important since corruption knows no borders. “By enhancing our competencies [in anti-corruption efforts] we want to improve the well-being of our peoples,” he said.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission rated Belarus’ anti-corruption work highly, noting the significant preventative potential of its norms, including those applied to business entities.

The enterprises visited by the commission will be involved in the implementation of the roadmap signed by the presidents of Belarus and Zimbabwe in May 2025.
As previously reported, during a working meeting on 1 September, Belarus’ Prosecutor General Andrei Shved and Chairman of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission Michael Reza signed a memorandum of understanding between the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.

The foreign colleagues learned about the organization of anti-corruption work at the local level and discussed the practical implementation of the provisions of the signed memorandum.

Representatives of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office held working meetings with the management of the country’s largest enterprises: OAO Savushkin Product, OAO BelAZ, and OAO Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT). The reception program also included a visit to historical and cultural sites of Belarus.
The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the meeting with the colleagues from Zimbabwe became a starting point for strengthening partnership ties and will contribute to the development of cooperation based on respect and trust.
