BEIJING, 3 September (BelTA) - History shows us that the whole world is connected by common interests and destiny, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the military parade in Beijing commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory over Japanese militarism and the end of World War II, BelTA has learned.
“History reminds people that the whole world is connected by common interests and shared destiny. Only when different countries and nations treat each other as equals, living in peace and harmony, can they protect common security, eradicate the sources of war, and avoid the repetition of historical tragedies,” the Chinese leader emphasized. “Today, the whole world faces a choice between contradictions such as peace or war, dialogue or conflict. The Chinese people firmly uphold historical truth, standing guard over the progress of human civilization, steadily following the path of peaceful development, and making joint efforts with the peoples of the world to build a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity.”
The Chinese president underscored the importance of remembering history, honoring the memory of fallen heroes, and safeguarding peace. He extended heartfelt gratitude to foreign governments and overseas figures who provided support and assistance in repelling external aggression, and welcomed guests from various countries who came for the celebration.
“The War of Resistance of the Chinese people against Japanese invaders is a difficult and heroic great war. Under the banner of the united front established by the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people, building a great steel wall to protect the country, achieved a complete victory. The War of Resistance of the Chinese people against Japanese invaders is an important component of the global anti-fascist war. The Chinese people, at the cost of immense sacrifices and losses, made a colossal contribution to saving civilization on Earth and protecting peace worldwide,” said the leader of China.
