MOSCOW, 29 May (BelTA) - Despite the claims of some in the West, Belarus and Russia are not alone - the global majority stands with us, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said during a meeting with Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council Sergei Shoigu in Moscow on 29 May, BelTA has learned.
The meeting took place as part of the International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues held in Moscow on 27-29 May. Aleksandr Volfovich highlighted that delegations from over 120 countries gathered in the Russian capital. "This interest proves that Russia and Belarus, as strategic partners, are far from isolated, as some in the West believe. We are not in decline, burdened by sanctions. The Global South and Eastern countries, the global majority, show a high level of interest in our countries. They value our experience in economic development and national security, and that is truly significant," he stated.
Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized that during the meeting the parties discussed the plan for bilateral cooperation and several security issues related to the Belarus-Russia Union State. "This year marks the conclusion of the 2024–2025 bilateral security cooperation plan," he explained. "We discussed our approaches for the next two years, and I believe we will sign the new plan by the end of this year."
“We also reviewed the Union State Security Concept and the Treaty on Security Guarantees between Russia and Belarus. The Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research has developed a detailed volume outlining the provisions of the Union State Security Concept,” Belarus’ security chief said. “During our bilateral meeting, this volume was handed over to our Russian colleagues for study, review, and input of their proposals into the second volume or additional sections," Belarus’ security chief said.
“Belarus takes a meticulous and thorough approach to all strategic planning documents, especially within the Union State framework. These documents are placed under the strictest control to ensure effective implementation, as the fulfillment of the strategic concepts outlined in them is directly linked to national security,” he concluded.
