MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – All structures of Belarus’ military organization are ready and capable of repelling any aggressor, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said at a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of Fatherland Defenders and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk on 20 February, BelTA has learned.
“The Day of Fatherland Defenders and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus has truly become a national holiday in our country. It is a tradition that we consider part of our history, where there is a place for victories and feats of valor for the sake of peace on our native land. It is a tradition we follow for the present and future of our Fatherland. Today, in such a difficult time, it is more important than ever to preserve the memory of the heroic generations who, through their military exploits, gave us a peaceful life, and for us, the current generation, to continue the veterans’ traditions. To continue that path, to ensure the stable development of our state, the security of our citizens, and a worthy future for our children,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
He noted with regret that the world has not become simpler. “Against the backdrop of geopolitical contradictions between centers of power, more and more new conflicts are emerging, resulting in the deaths of people, the destruction of cities, and hundreds of thousands of refugees leaving their homes in search of a better life. We see all of this, adequately assess the developing situation, and react just as adequately. All modern risks, challenges, and threats in ensuring national security are constantly in the focus of our president’s attention. That is precisely why today we see such close attention and exacting demands from him towards all structures of the national security system. First and foremost, of course, towards the Armed Forces as the foundation of the state’s military organization,” the state secretary of the Security Council said.
Aleksandr Volfovich pointed out that the modern Belarusian Armed Forces are developing, strengthening their defensive potential. “The ongoing combat readiness inspections, carried out by order of the head of state, show that today the personnel of the Armed Forces are professionally trained and possess high morale and the will to win. Today, all structures of the state’s military organization are ready and capable of repelling any aggressor. It was so, it is so, and it will always be so. But one must understand perfectly well that wars are won not by armies, but by peoples. Therefore, the entire Belarusian people must be ready at any moment to rise in defense of the Motherland. And if our Western opponents understand and see this, then no threats will frighten us,” he summarized.
