Venezuelan ambassador: A nation's dignity is not for sale

MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) - A nation's dignity cannot be a subject for bargaining, Franklin Ramírez Araque, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to Belarus and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, at an event marking the 108th anniversary of the October Revolution. The event took place on Nezavisimosti Square in Minsk at the monument to Vladimir Lenin on 7 November, BelTA has learned.

“In the homeland of Simón Bolívar and Comandante Hugo Chávez, as in Petrograd in 1917, it is well known that you do not beg for independence. You defend it with awareness, you defend it with courage, you defend it with the conviction that dignity is not for sale,” the ambassador said.

Franklin Ramírez Araque emphasized that the October Revolution is not a myth, but an event that became a reality.

“When people unite, history changes its course,” he said. “Dignity is not given freely. It is won through struggle, it is won through unity.”

The Venezuelan ambassador pointed out that in his homeland, the voice of the people's resistance, which stands against U.S. imperialism, is heard. The USA is attempting to seize natural riches and undermine Venezuela's sovereignty.

“History teaches us that the will of free peoples always prevails. Today we firmly declare: Venezuela does not surrender,” he stressed, adding that sovereignty is sacred and the dignity of the Venezuelan people is unshakable.
