GRODNO, 13 August (BelTA) – Regions of Uzbekistan would like to study Belarusian expertise and knowledge in the manufacturing industry and agriculture, chairman of the investments committee of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Kamal Sadykov told reporters in Grodno on 13 August. He came to Grodno Oblast as part of a delegation of Karakalpakstan and Surkhandarya Oblast of Uzbekistan, BelTA has learned.
“We are convinced that the ongoing visit and the talks will give a good impetus to interregional cooperation. There are many areas of work. First of all, investments and establishment of joint ventures in the manufacturing industry, from mechanical engineering to the chemical industry and construction. We also need to ramp up trade,” Kamal Sadykov said. He emphasized that the regions of Uzbekistan would like to study Belarus' best practices in personnel management and technologies in various economic sectors, including manufacturing and agriculture.
Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov noted: “We need to step up interregional cooperation. After all, Belarus and Uzbekistan enjoy good relations. So far, the trade between our region and Uzbekistan is not so big and lags behind its potential. There is a certain interest in Belarusian products. In particular, farm machines and foodstuffs produced in the region can be of interest on the market of Uzbekistan. A possibility to set up joint ventures in Uzbekistan, first of all, plants to assemble farm machines, is under consideration. Logistics is another promising cooperation avenue,” he said.
The delegation from Uzbekistan is studying industrial and economic capacities of Grodno Oblast and touring local companies. A business forum will be held at the FEZ Grodnoinvest to present local companies, first of all, meat and dairy producers and light industry companies.
