
MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Singer Vassy, representing the United States, will not be able to take the stage at Intervision, according to an official statement from the organizers of the Intervision 2025 Song contest, BelTA has learned.
"Due to reasons beyond the control of the organizers and the U.S. delegation, caused by unprecedented political pressure from the Australian government, singer VASSY (a citizen of the United States and Australia) will be unable to perform in the Intervision final show," the statement reads.
It is reported that today, 20 September, the Australian government issued an official note to her.
The organizers expressed regret over the artist's inability to perform, while emphasizing that the United States remains a full participant in Intervision and will be represented on the international jury by the legendary vocalist of Deep Purple.
The organizers emphasized that the contest firmly adheres to the principles of openness, cultural exchange, and respect for every participant, remains apolitical, and is dedicated solely to the development of art and international cooperation.
“We are not pursuing any political agenda. We want the innate purpose of humanity and individual identity to be respected and realized through free interaction, mutually enriched by engaging with each other's spiritual values," stated Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the contest.
It is noted that the organizers are prepared to provide all necessary legal and organizational support to delegations facing pressure or restrictions that hinder their participation.
