Ulf Andersen's photos to go on first display in Minsk

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – An exhibition of the famous photographer Ulf Andersen will open near the Town Hall in Liberty Square in Minsk on the City Day, 13 September, BelTA learned from the international social and economic foundation Idea, one of the organizers of the event.

The stands 1.5 to 2m big will feature a series of Ulf Andersen's most famous photos: the portraits of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Joseph Brodsky, Charles Bukowski, Jorge Luis Borges, Ray Bradbury and other famous writers. This is the first time the photographer's works will be displayed in Belarus.

Ulf Andersen is a Norwegian, based in Paris. He has been a portrait photographer of writers for 40 years. He has collected an extensive amount of portraits of writers from different parts of the world: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Yachar Kemal, Paul Bowles, Naguib Mahfouz, Eudora Welty, Alberto Moravia, Jose Saramago, Eduardo Mendoza and many others.

The exhibition has been organized by the international social and economic foundation Idea, the French Embassy in the Republic of Belarus and the Minsk City Hall.
