"On Point"
MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) - Expectations for Donald Trump have diminished over time due to his inconsistent statements and contradictory rhetoric, Ukrainian lawyer and blogger Tatiana Montyan said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
"Trump has only himself to blame. There were enormous hopes placed on him, especially after the Democrats' rule which exhausted the whole world. Lukashenko was right when he said: 'Soros came [George Soros – U.S. financier, investor], and I told him straight that I have no intention of working with you or destroying my country.’ After Trumpists ousted the Democrats, there was great hope for radical change," Tatiana Montyan noted. “Initially, his words carried weight, but when he says one thing today and the opposite tomorrow and repeat it five times over, he became a random phrase generator. Naturally, no one takes him seriously anymore.”
The speaker also commented on the Belarusian president’s remarks about U.S. tariffs and “global blackmail”: “What did he say? ‘You have no other problems besides bullying the whole world with tariffs and such?’ That’s why Trump is digging his own grave.”
“Aleksandr Lukashenko's statements were accurate, direct, and to the point," Tatiana Montyan said. “I don't know how this was received in the United States. But I think it was exactly right.”
