MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) - Representatives of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security at the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan are visiting the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) to study regulatory control over radiation facilities. BelTA learned from Gosatomnadzor.
The event has been organized at the request of the IAEA.
During the visit, Tajik specialists will study the regulatory legal framework in the field of radiation safety, supervision and control over the use of ionizing radiation sources at medical and industrial facilities, and also licensing in this area of activity. The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center will provide information on scientific and technical support to the regulatory body, expertise and safety assessment.
The delegation is set to learn more about the system of response to radiological and nuclear accidents, the procedure for accounting and control of sources of ionizing radiation and nuclear materials, and the National Radiation Monitoring System, including monitoring in the event of nuclear and radiation accidents.
The delegation is scheduled to visit he Isotope Technologies enterprise.
