MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - Measures taken to ensure the territorial integrity and security of Belarus’ state border were analyzed at an expanded board meeting summarizing the work of the border agency in 2025, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

Chairman of the State Border Committee Konstantin Molostov noted that the results of the border services’ work in 2025 received positive assessment during a recent report to the president. “The head of state particularly emphasized that the decision to guard the border is as relevant as ever. The situation around us is not calming down, and there are no trends toward de-escalation. At this board meeting, we must determine specific measures to implement the tasks set by the head of state for the upcoming period,” said the head of the committee.

According to First Deputy Head of the State Border Committee Andrei Filatov, work was carried out in 2025 to reinforce the banks of the Western Bug River on the border with Poland in the area of the Brest border outpost. The inclusion of a similar construction project is planned for the water section under the jurisdiction of the Domachevo border outpost. These measures are stipulated to ensure Belarus’ territorial integrity, as part of fulfilling tasks under the Development of Border Security of the Union State program.

Additionally, two new border outposts were established within the Mozyr Border Detachment and the Brest Border Group. Authorities have also increased the staffing levels of several other border units operating in the south.

Unmanned aerial vehicles were actively used in border protection. “Mobile groups of unmanned aerial systems and UAV operators have been introduced into the staff of units. Extensive planned work is underway to train UAV operators and equip units with advanced models of various types of drones,” the committee explained. Means for detecting drones have also been supplied to territorial bodies, and the arsenal of units has been supplemented with means for the fire engagement of drones and electronic warfare systems against them.

“As part of improving the infrastructure of the state border and border areas under the Border Security and Development of Border Security of the Union State programs, dozens of kilometers of patrol tracks and border roads were equipped in 2025, and the coverage with intrusion detection systems continues to be expanded. Furthermore, on the sections of the Lida and Pinsk Border Detachments, a new non-barrier type intrusion detection system has been equipped and put into operation. Its operating principle is based on detecting vibrational and acoustic impacts,” the State Border Committee cited as examples.

Current issues were discussed with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky, and Yuri Tertel, Head of the State Inspectorate on Wildlife Protection under the President of Belarus, and others.
