MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) - For the West the migrant crisis is an occasion to build up a military presence on the border with Belarus, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko told reporters following a meeting of the 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk, while commenting on the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border, BelTA reports.
"We see what kind of situation is developing on the border. The migrant crisis is being used as an excuse to build up a military presence on the border with the Republic of Belarus, the Union State. This is, of course, a threat to the security of Belarus and the Union State," Vladimir Andreichenko said. "We have not yet responded to these provocations, but we are ready to respond if necessary."
The speaker stressed that the situation on the border should be resolved at the negotiating table.
"The Belarusian position is clear: all stakeholders need to sit down, put aside all the political disagreements and find a solution to the problem," Vladimir Andreichenko stated.
