SLONIM DISTRICT, 14 February (BelTA) – The snap combat readiness inspection continues at the 11th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade in Slonim, BelTA has learned.
Over the weekend, the plan includes checking the physical fitness of servicemen. For men, this means pull-ups, and for women – sit-ups.
After completing the exercise, Vladimir Sen shared his emotions. “Pull-ups on the bar are performed by servicemen during every control session, depending on the age group. We train for this standard even during our daily activities. Today I did 10 pull-ups, which is a ‘good’ rating. I’m not very satisfied with this result. I believe every serviceman should meet the standards at least with an ‘excellent’ rating. For me, today’s result is a motivator. I promised myself that next time I will do it excellently,” he said.
A soldier’s physical fitness is one of their core qualities. “We are confident in our strength. We do everything required. Even though the inspection is sudden, right now we are demonstrating what we constantly train for, as our sessions are regular,” a female serviceman who today passed the sit-up standard with an excellent rating said.
Ahead for the servicemen of the 11th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade is also a forced march. They train for maximum results. Artem Yaroshuk shared his thoughts after a training run: “Sessions take place several times a week; we are always ready to run. Quality fitness is important for carrying out all the tasks assigned to us. So, naturally, you need to be in good physical shape.”
As noted by the commander of the 105th Separate Mechanized Battalion Yevgeny Volchek, physical and weapons training are the key to a serviceman’s success in battle. “We have scheduled sessions four times a week. There is daily morning physical exercise, as well as physical training during tactical drills,” he said. “I believe that the main focus in physical training should be on endurance. Physical strength will come gradually with pull-ups, running, and push-ups. But endurance is the primary thing that needs to be instilled. An infantryman during weapons training is equipped with a bulletproof vest, a helmet, and a weapon. A grenade launcher operator has two types of weapons plus ammunition. This is very heavy to carry. And it is precisely for this that endurance needs to be developed.”
Based on the results of the inspection, a high level of physical fitness among the unit’s personnel has been confirmed.
The large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces on the instructions of the head of state began on 16 January. The commander-in-chief is personally monitoring its progress. A new system has been implemented that allows the president to directly place military units on combat readiness, circumventing the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. The main aim of these inspections is to gain an objective assessment. This is precisely why they are carried out without prior notice.
