MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Behind the specific indicators outlined in Belarus’ socio-economic development program for 2026-2030 lies the daily work of many teams, enterprises, organizations, and individuals, Chairperson of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko told journalists, BelTA has learned.
“Behind these figures is the everyday labor of many collectives, enterprises, organizations, and individuals,” he stressed.
In particular, GDP growth over the five-year period is projected at 15.8%. Exports of goods and services are expected to grow by 19.5%, while real disposable household incomes are set to rise by 21%.
“The socio-economic development program for the next five years has been thoroughly worked out. Approaches were defined, agreed with the head of state, and reviewed by the Presidium of the Council of Ministers,” Igor Sergeyenko said. “Then a working group was created, which included deputies of the House of Representatives.” Some of the deputies’ proposals were incorporated into the program.
The speaker recalled that the draft program was discussed by regional delegations, in the House of Representatives, and in the Council of the Republic. The identified priorities (seven major ones) are interconnected and complement each other.
Speaking about the priority of strong regions, Igor Sergeyenko noted that the One District - One Project initiative will continue. Much attention is devoted to road network development and the social sphere, namely healthcare and education. All of this is reflected in specific regional programs, including for the southeast of Mogilev Oblast, the Vitebsk Lake District, or Polesie.
Regarding defense capability, the military-industrial sector, and overall national security, the chairman emphasized the importance of domestically produced weapons and equipment. He noted that significant figures have been set for this area. “There are demanding tasks in every priority you take,” he emphasized.
