MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – CSTO parliamentary diplomacy can contribute to common Eurasian security, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said at a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA Council) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 19 May, BelTA has learned.
“It is relevant now to intensify a dialogue on a new Eurasian security architecture. To this end, during the two international conferences held in Minsk in 2023 and 2024, Belarus launched the discussion of this initiative. The president of the Republic of Belarus spearheaded the idea to build a common space of trust and cooperation, to bring countries together to work towards a common goal of avoiding a fatal civilizational rift instead of banding together against someone,” said Igor Sergeyenko.

“Of course, we understand that no document will be able to solve security issues on the continent. But we believe that the work on the document can unite countries and international organizations who are interested in building a new architecture of Eurasian security. I believe that parliamentary diplomacy of the CSTO member states can also contribute to the implementation of this initiative,” Igor Sergeyenko emphasized.
