Russia eager to study Belarus’ approach to real estate regulation

BREST, 13 November (BelTA) – A joint board meeting of the justice ministries of Belarus and Russia was held in Brest on 13 November, BelTA has learned.

The agenda included 12 items, with issues directly related to the rights and obligations of citizens of the Union State of Belarus and Russia among them. “We discussed a number of topical issues for the interaction of the justice agencies of our states. Primarily, this includes transferring funds recovered during enforcement proceedings on the territory of the Russian Federation to Belarusian citizens and business entities who are the claimants. Also on the agenda was digitalization of the work of justice agencies in various areas, such as legal aid, work with non-profit organizations, and regulatory drafting,” Belarusian Justice Minister Yevgeny Kovalenko said.
He noted that the Russian side was interested in Belarus’ progressive experience in digitalizing regulatory drafting and regulating the real estate sector. “For our part, we are interested in a number of promising areas implemented by our Russian colleagues. In particular, these are matters related to the introduction of artificial intelligence,” Yevgeny Kovalenko added.

According to him, the legislation of Belarus and Russia has much in common. Nevertheless, each country has its own specifics and approaches to regulating certain relations. “Harmonization is undoubtedly a priority in several areas. Relevant work is underway. This includes civil legislation and a number of other areas where we maintain close interaction and align our positions,” the Belarusian justice minister emphasized.
The Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuychenko stressed that the Belarusian and Russian sides are discussing the need to establish a common legal space in the future. “Moreover, we had a substantive and engaging discussion. We decided to discuss a proposal to include issues of mutual interest in the business program of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, which will be held in June 2026. Overall, I believe our work is very constructive,” Konstantin Chuychenko summarized.
The justice ministers of Belarus and Russia also visited the Brest Fortress memorial complex, where they laid flowers at the eternal flame and honored the memory of the defenders with a minute of silence.
