MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Work is underway on the second meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese High-Level Committee on Interparliamentary Cooperation, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan in Minsk on 18 October, BelTA has learned.
"Interparliamentary interaction is very important. This year, a parliamentary delegation of Belarus visited China. We had wonderful meetings, discussed topical issues of our cooperation. We met with Vice President of China Han Zheng, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji, President of the All-China Women's Federation Shen Yiqin. The visit was quite short but very productive," Natalya Kochanova said.
China hosted the first meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese High-Level Committee on Interparliamentary Cooperation. "Friendship groups operate in the National People's Congress and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Considering our all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership and good relations between our countries and peoples, we had decided to establish a high-level committee. So we did. It convened for its first meeting in China during our visit. We discussed the most urgent issues of further cooperation. We would like to hold the second meeting online in the near future, perhaps in December, in order to discuss the issues we touched upon last meeting and compare our notes. We would be grateful for your assistance in organizing the meeting," Natalya Kochanova noted.
