MOSCOW, 3 June (BelTA) – Staff negotiations on arranging the special exercise Grom 2021 [Thunder] for special operations forces of the collective rapid response forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization took place in Armenia on 1-3 June, BelTA learned from CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov.
The event took place in line with this year's plan on the joint training of command and control bodies and forces and assets of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Representatives of the internal troops of the Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry, police and other ministries and government agencies of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Internal Affairs Ministry, the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry, the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the CSTO Secretariat took part in the negotiations.
The sides discussed and agreed the basic concept and the procedure for organizing the exercise. They also discussed and agreed the composition of the leadership of the exercise and the national contingents of the CSTO member states that will participate in the exercise, the timing and the procedure for their arrival and deployment, the deployment of the operations staff of the CSTO collective rapid response forces, and all kinds of matters concerning the exercise's logistics.
The exercise is supposed to take place in Armenia and will involve two stages, during which the CSTO special forces will use armored units, special automobiles, aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and service dogs.
