MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) - The International Orthodox Festival Radost (Joy) will kick off in Polotsk on 5-15 June, BelTA learned from the official portal of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
As is tradition, the festival will feature a large exhibition-fair, where monasteries, churches, and artisans from Belarus, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Palestine, Moldova, and Greece will be showcasing handmade crafts. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase icons, rare books, handmade souvenirs, textiles, original ceramics, decorative items, Orthodox clothing for women, natural cosmetics, and health products.
During the cultural and educational program, speakers and creative individuals will share experiences and insights on various life topics, including health, parenting, family relationships, and finding joy and meaning in life. Visitors will have the chance to engage in discussions with priests, ask questions, and reflect together. Additionally, there will be concerts and musical performances for the whole family.
A special program for children is also planned, featuring interactive workshops, new performances by the Batleyka puppet theater, and the exhibition "History of Books in Rus".
A major focus of the festival program will be events dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Savior-St Euphrosyne Convent in Polotsk and the Feast Day of St. Euphrosyne, Abbess of Polotsk, a notable educator and heavenly patroness of Belarus.
The festival is organized by the sisters of the Saint Elisabeth Convent in Minsk. It will be held with the blessing of Bishop Ignatius of Polotsk and Glubokoe, and with the support of the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
The festival will take place at the open-air venue at Francis Skaryna Square, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
