"On Point"
MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Voting decisions of many Poles are governed by emotions, not knowledge, Polish political scientist and publicist Tomasz Gryguć said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“The Poles are indoctrinated and brainwashed by propaganda. Many of them do not understand the essence of politics. To understand what politics in the West has turned into, let's have a look at the parliamentary and presidential campaigns in Poland. Everything was driven by emotions, not knowledge. Infantile attitudes were prevailing,” Tomasz Gryguć said.
The political scientist remarked that in the digital age, Facebook, X, YouTube and other platforms have been instrumentalized to shape people's minds. These tools can, among other things, influence people's political views and decisions.
“In the run-off election, Poles faced a choice between plague, cholera and leprosy. This is a Hobson's choice. Even in the first round when more candidates were on the ballot, this campaign looked like an infantile game of fake democracy, where Poland's fundamental issues were not really important for the voters themselves. How can we get out of poverty? How to curb inflation? How to help people who cannot make their ends meet? What to do with rising prices? How to improve the business environment for Polish entrepreneurs so that they can provide for their families, grow their businesses and still have money to pay taxes?” Tomasz Gryguć asked.
