PM: Belarusian healthcare system has no time to waste given scale of tasks

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Given the scale of the tasks facing the healthcare system, there is no time to waste, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev, BelTA has learned.

On 5 March, the prime minister received Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev with a report. The agenda of the meeting included the changes in the structure of the central office of the Healthcare Ministry, the  pharmaceutical industry, the regulation of prices for paid services in healthcare, in particular dental services, the experiment on the provision of paid services by state healthcare institutions on weekends and holidays.

According to Roman Golovchenko, more than a month has passed since the appointment of Aleksandr Khodzhayev to the post of minister. "As we introduced you to the team we talked about the scale of the tasks facing the healthcare system  and agreed that there is no much time to waste. Enough time has passed for you to be able to delve deeper into the situation, to assess the progress in the implementation of the tasks that have been set for the ministry by the relevant order of the head of state, and the shortcomings. You have visited a number of healthcare institutions in the country and seen in practice how the approaches that have been defined are being implemented," he said.

"We agreed that you will take a fresh look at the structure of the central office of the ministry. Perhaps it is necessary to make some adjustments in order to mobilize the team for a more effective solution of the tasks,” the head of government noted. “We agreed that you would look into the situation in the pharmaceutical industry. Objectively, it needs an additional impetus to get out of this state of ‘unstable equilibrium’. The provision of the domestic market with pharmaceuticals (including top-of-the-line) is quite high. Still we need to move forward and increase exports. This is the key task."
