MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – It is crucial for state-run mass media to maintain momentum, to retain and strengthen their positions on the media market, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko said at the meeting of the Board of the Information Ministry on 17 February, BelTA has learned.
In his words, in 2021 mass media fulfilled the tasks set for them. “The ministry continued systemic work in the media landscape, maintained effective interaction with the media at all levels,” Igor Petrishenko said.
According to him, state-owned mass media outlets strengthened their leading positions in the country's media space. “The information agenda is promptly formulated and updated, the analytical component is very well grounded. Quick response to ongoing developments, bristling reports and commentary have become a hallmark of our media. It is of paramount importance not to lose momentum, to maintain and strengthen these positions,” the vice-premier said.
Igor Petrishenko emphasized that mass media coped with their tasks last year. “There are successes, achievements, there are objective difficulties. Yet, I am absolutely convinced that today one can and should work even more efficiently and at a more advanced level. You have growth potential,” he added. “The things you managed to achieve last year are the result of your hard work, your professionalism, and your strong citizenship. I am sure that you will be able to successfully fulfill all the tasks set for the current year, and implement all the plans with full dedication,” he said.
The Board of the Information Ministry held a meeting on 17 February to review the work of mass media in 2021 and to set the tasks for 2022. The meeting was held in a mixed format. The offline meeting took place in the Press House in Minsk, while representatives of the regions joined the discussion by videoconference.
