MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Following Poland’s closure of all border checkpoints with Belarus, over 1,000 vehicles are waiting at the Belarusian border to enter Lithuania, the State Border Committee’s press service told BelTA.

At 1:00 a.m. on 12 September, the Polish side unilaterally closed all border crossing checkpoints along its border with Belarus.
As a result, 720 freight trucks are queuing up at the two operational Lithuanian checkpoints: Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) and Salcininkai (Benyakoni). Over the past 24 hours, Lithuanian control services have cleared only 13% and 28% of the normal number of trucks respectively.
A total of 290 cars are currently waiting at the Lithuanian checkpoints to enter the EU. Over the past 24 hours, their personnel have accepted 51% of the normal number of passenger vehicles from Belarus.
