"On Point"
MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – For the USA, fighting Iran now would be very costly and more trouble than it's worth, Russian political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
“When America boosted its presence in the Indian Ocean and beefed up its bases on the Arabian Peninsula, it was seen as preparation for war with Iran. But I remember the Pentagon report from 2011. Sorry, but 14 years ago Iran was not as technologically advanced as it is now. At present, fighting Iran would be very costly and more trouble than it's worth for the Americans,” Karine Gevorgyan said.
According to the political scientist, the concentration of American weapons and troops on the Arabian Peninsula and in the Indian Ocean is needed to 'lock up' China by blocking the Malacca Strait and the Taiwan Strait.
