MINSK, 8  June (BelTA) – The political elites of the West need war because this is the only way for them to overcome the deep crisis now besetting their countries, Russian public figure, historian, and political scientist Boris Yakemenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Today we are witnessing the rise of retro empires: the British Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth... This imperial mindset is awakening. Hence all these territorial claims. And in these conditions, Britain, now pushed aside by those it once colonized, is particularly keenly aware of the rise of its former satellite, America. The United States is, in fact, a replica of Great Britain, which rose by opposing it,” Boris Yakemenko said.

According to the political scientist, this opposition also underpins the conflict between the USA and Great Britain. London cannot forgive Washington for the fact that America actually rules the world today. “This conflict is inevitable. Of course, the New World and the Old World have the same material interests, but each of them strives to get their hands on everything,” he emphasized.

Nevertheless, Boris Yakemenko believes that the USA and Great Britain will come to terms sooner or later as they are trying to grapple with the problems that are piling up in these countries. America is experiencing a crisis in the manufacturing sector, because a significant part of production has been moved to other countries. In Great Britain, 'entire cities no longer speak English and are populated by migrants'.”

“Of course, in these conditions, war looks like the only viable solution. Because war can be conveniently blamed for everything. Millions of impoverished and marginalized people are beginning to ask themselves whether it is time to change something. In other words, war is seen by the West as a way to prevent an imminent revolution. That is why they want war. They see it as the only way to stop the disintegration that is already unfolding,” the political scientist remarked.
