MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – Not a single foreign policy issue that U.S. President Donald Trump pledged to deal with has been resolved to date, Andrei Bogodel, Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
“During the election campaign in the United States, Trump steered clear of many foreign policy issues during debates or primaries. He either spoke about them vaguely, or diverted the conversation to the domestic political agenda - for example, the fight against migrants. On the contrary, Biden was placing a lot of emphasis on foreign policy,” Andrei Bogodel said.
According to the expert, after Trump came to power, it became obvious that the American leadership did not have a clear plan to end the conflict in Ukraine. “By the way, this concerns not only Ukraine. Look, at first everything seemed to be going well in the Panama Canal area. But after a while it turned out that the Chinese were no pushovers, and BlackRock intervened, so things remained where they were,” he emphasized.
Andrei Bogodel believes that the same can be said about the Middle East. At first, it seemed that the conflict between Israel and Hamas was going to be resolved, but this war is only getting worse now. In addition to that, Donald Trump has failed to have his way in Greenland.
