"On Point"
MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – If the West pushes Russia into a corner, Moscow will have to take out its nuclear sword, Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, retired colonel Viktor Baranets said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Many media outlets reported that Trump allowed Zelensky to strike Moscow and St. Petersburg. But now they are trying to walk back what this cowboy said. They claim that he did not allow it, he just asked: how do you think you will be able to strike Moscow or St. Petersburg?” Viktor Baranets said.
According to the military observer, in the event of attacks on Moscow or St. Petersburg, Russian people might demand a strong and decisive response from their leadership. “We have talked too much about red lines, which have now faded. People will demand adequate response from the authorities. In this case, we will retaliate. Maybe even with Oreshnik,” he emphasized.
At the same time, Viktor Baranets believes that it is necessary to predict further consequences. “After this, NATO can happily say that Russia attacked them. Is this option possible? You can expect anything from these guys. We take this option into consideration. If we are pushed into a corner, we will resort to a nuclear doctrine. It clearly states: if we cannot defeat the enemy with conventional weapons, we will take out the nuclear sword,” the military observer added.
